Money Magazine (May 1985 issue) did a comparison between fiberglass, concrete, and vinyl liner swimming pools. When referring to fiberglass they found "They are the easiest pool to maintain." "The smooth finish and rounded corners of the shell don't chip, tear, or harbor bacteria or algae."
